Past Commander Gene Shaffer.
Gene Shaffer served as Commander of Post 262 for six years. During his time as commander Gene served selflessly giving countless hours of his time leading our post and serving as a member of the Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
In this photo, Gene is riding Ira, the therapy horse, sponsored by the Ira E. Lady American Legion. Ira gave pleasure and comfort to many children. This photo was taken at the Shining Stars Therapeutic Center in 2017.

Our featured member this month is Mary Weigle. Mary lives near Biglerville, PA, with her husband, Ron. Undeterred by her duties as a business professional, mother, and grandmother, Mary somehow finds time to help her neighbors.



She is passionate about supporting local charities including Mission of Mercy, Children's Advocacy Center, Gettysburg Cares, American Red Cross and our building committee.
Americanism, one of the pillars of the American Legion, promotes patriotism and civic responsibility. Mary accomplishes this mission by spreading kindness in her community through volunteer work and serving her post. Thank you for your service to our post and community.
